Jeep Lift Kit Installation for Nashville & Middle Tennessee

A lift kit is usually the first big change to a Jeep, and it affects everything that comes after it: tire size, gearing, steering feel and how the Jeep behaves at highway speed. At Wreckless 4x4 we install suspension for Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator owners from Nashville and across Middle Tennessee, and we plan it as part of the whole build rather than as a box of parts bolted on.

Lift Kits Planned Around How You Drive

Before we recommend a lift, we ask three questions. What tire size do you want, now and later? How much of your driving is pavement versus trail? Do you tow or carry a heavy load? A Jeep that commutes on I-40 and I-24 every day needs a different setup from a weekend rig that gets trailered to the trail. The answers decide how much lift you need, which arm design makes sense and which shocks fit the job.

Our goal is a proven, tested setup that keeps street handling sharp while adding real off-road capability. We would rather build a Jeep that drives well every day than one that only looks good parked.

Mid-Arm, Long-Arm and Coilover Setups

We install three main suspension designs.

Mid-arm systems replace the factory control arms with longer, adjustable arms that mount at relocated points. They improve geometry and ride over a basic spacer or coil lift without the frame work of a long-arm kit. On a recent Jeep Gladiator build we installed Clayton Off Road mid arms.

Long-arm systems use much longer control arms and new frame-side mounting points. Longer arms change angle more gradually as the axle moves, which helps ride quality and articulation on a taller lift or bigger tires.

Coilover setups replace the factory coil spring and shock with a coilover shock that combines spring and damping in one adjustable unit. They suit builds that need tunable ride height and damping for hard trail use or high speed.

We'll explain the trade-offs of each for your Jeep and budget, then install the setup you choose.

What Changes When You Lift a Jeep

Raising a solid-axle Jeep changes its geometry. Driveshaft angles get steeper. The track bar moves the axle side to side as the suspension cycles, and its angle changes with ride height. Caster, which affects how well the steering returns to center and how stable the Jeep feels at speed, changes with control-arm length and position. Brake lines, sway bar links and bump stops may all need attention at the new height.

A complete lift accounts for these. That's why we pair suspension work with our in-house alignment and suspension setup. Once the parts are on, we set ride height, check that nothing binds or rubs through the travel, and align the Jeep so it tracks straight.

Tires, Gears and Lifts Go Together

Most people lift a Jeep to fit bigger tires. We install wheel and tire packages from 33s to 43s on wheels from 17 to 26 inches, beadlocks included. Bigger tires have a knock-on effect on gearing: a taller tire effectively makes your axle ratio taller, so the engine works harder and the transmission hunts for gears. If you're going to 35s, 37s or larger, it's worth planning a regear at the same time as the lift. Read more on our Jeep regear page.

If you're also thinking about a Hemi swap, tell us before you choose a lift. More power and weight change what you'll want from the suspension, and we install AMW Hemi packages as an authorized AMW installer. See the Hemi conversions page.

Lifted Jeep Alignment Included in the Plan

A lifted Jeep with bad alignment wears tires, wanders on the highway and can make steering problems feel worse. Every suspension job we do ends with alignment and setup in our own shop.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Jeeps do you install lift kits on?

We install suspension and lift kits on Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator models. Tell us your year and model when you call, and we'll confirm the options for your Jeep.

What's the difference between a mid-arm and a long-arm lift?

Both replace the factory control arms. Mid-arm systems use longer arms at relocated mounting points without major frame work. Long-arm systems use much longer arms and new frame-side mounts, which generally helps ride quality and articulation on taller lifts. We'll recommend one based on your tire size and how you drive.

Do I need new gears after a lift?

The lift itself doesn't require gears, but the bigger tires that usually come with it change your effective gearing. Many owners moving to 35-inch or larger tires plan a regear with the lift. We'll go over it with you.

Do you align the Jeep after installing a lift?

Yes. We do alignment and suspension setup in-house as part of the suspension work.

What suspension brands do you use?

We choose parts for each build. One recent example is a Jeep Gladiator with Clayton Off Road mid arms. Ask us about the options for your Jeep.
